Welcome to I Got Mind. We are excited to have you join our Tribe. Since 2008 we have been supporting teams throughout North America learn how to reach their optimal performance. This is achieved through education and conversation.
Ringette Calgary Officials Programming
Since 2008 I Got Mind has been dedicated to improving the experiences of all of those who participate in sport.
2023 marks an important time for IGM as we created our Non-Profit organization. This allows us to reduce the costs of the program so more individuals and teams can participate in learning this valuable social and emotional information that creates a mentally healthier environment for all.
Calgary Ringette has realized the importance of its officials and supporting them. This programming is to help all officials understand the issues they deal with many times during the season.
What to expect from the training.
Self-Directed Learning
3 - Online Courses (October-December)
As a member of Ringette Calgary you will have access to three of our award-winning courses. The courses are for you to review at your convenience. You can use your phone, tablet or computer to log in and access the learning videos and assignments with each of the courses.
Please allow for 2 hours to complete a course.
Facilitated Sessions
3 - Guided Conversations
After you have completed the online course you will register and attend a facilitated conversation. Here you can ask questions and an IGM certified instructor will support the learning with relatable situations and scenarios where you can apply the content to receive the maximum benefits of the teachings.
These sessions are held via zoom and are 75 minutes in length.
Courses Offered
October - Understanding Stress
This course is one of our most popular. It goes in depth to what stress is, the two types of stress, we will also introduce the stress performance curve and provide insights to how stress manifests physically. It will provide valuable tools to manage your own stress, recognize stress in others and implement regulation strategies to reduce stress for you and for others.
(2 Lessons in course - Time to complete 120 minutes)
November - Being Trauma Informed
This course contains important information for all humans to understand. Trauma is a part of life and in sports occurs more than we are aware of. Injuries, bullying and harassment, are just some of the trauma we can experience in sport. You will be introduced to the types of trauma we can experience, what it can cause, and how to develop a process to overcome any trauma you might experience.
(2 Lessons in course - Time to complete 90 minutes)
December - The Power of Attitude
One of the core courses in our programs will help you understand what attitude it is and how we share it. This will always have an affect, it is determined by the attitude we share. As an official you can have your attitude affected by coaches, athletes and fans. This can create a very poor attitude for you which will only have more negative affects. The teachings in the two prior courses will bring the entire program all together for you and you will be able to see how our attitudes can create unhealthy stress and even be traumatic for those who may be on the receiving end.

Facilitators!!
One of your guides will be IGM President Bob Wilkie. Bob has been working with teams for over 15 years. His experience as a former NHL hockey player, coach mentor, and mental performance coach allow him to fully understand the social and emotional challenges within the game.
Shawn O’Grady
Shawn has been in the mental health field for over 20 years working with people of all ages. He is the father of three daughters, two of which play ringette.
Shawn will be a part of the facilitated conversations we will host after you have completed the online learning courses.
Shari Gebhard
Shari has been involved in sport her entire life. As a young athlete, a collegiate athlete and coach, and a parent of elite athletes, Shari brings a very experienced perspective of the challenges and how to use the valuable tools within the courses to help you.
Shari will be a part of the facilitated conversations we will host after you have completed the online learning courses.
How To Begin Your Journey
Below is an option to join the group membership. Once you have completed registration you will be redirected to your Learning Dashboard where you will have access to the online course.
We have built an extensive Learning Management System. It will track your progress through each lesson. There will be assignments and quizzes for you to complete. We have built it this way to maximize learning. It also creates accountability as we track who is committed to becoming a valuable member of the team.
Ringette Calgary is investing in you, it is a fair expectation that you will invest in yourself by completing the entire course.
You will enter your email and create a password so you can log in. On the right hand side of the page it will ask if you have a coupon, your administrator will have sent the code to you in our introduction email. When you enter the code you will see the cost move to FREE.
Make sure to complete the purchase, you will not be asked for any payment information.
You will then be redirected to your Learning Dashboard where you will have access to the course and you can begin.
